How this book started

This book grew out of a small moment at home. One day after daycare, my daughter came running in making cat sounds: “meow meow!” I answered back in Japanese, talking about the ねこ and how it says ニャーニャー. She frowned and told me, “No, Mama. No Japanese.”

My heart sank, and I realized I needed to make Japanese feel fun and playful, not like homework. So I created a simple way to color cute animals, say the sounds together, and giggle our way through both languages.
